Custom Sign Materials

One of the things that you need to consider when you are having custom signs made for your office is the kinds of materials you can use. There are actually quite a lot for you to choose from, and the choice can be made according to a criterion that you set for yourself. Of course, you will also need to add into this certain considerations for ADA compliance and your company’s image.

Let us first tackle the most important aspect of buying stuff for your business, and that is the budget. Budget-wise, a number of materials may be too costly for those who are looking to save money on their signs. Some of the materials that may be somewhat expensive are woods, metals, stone, and glass.

If you like the look of these materials but do not have the budget for these, do not despair. There are alternatives to this that are not as expensive, and are even considered downright cheap. For example, if you want a specific type of wood but find it too expensive for your budget, you can always opt for a wood-grain plastic or wood composite for such a thing.

As for metals, there are some that are rather expensive and some that are budget friendly as well. For instance, if you want a silvery looking metal for your signs, you can choose between stainless steel and aluminum. Aluminum is the cheaper alternative for this, so if your budget does not allow for stainless steel, aluminum is your best bet.

Next thing to consider would be where these signs are to be used. If these are to be exposed to certain conditions, like moisture, heat, and sunlight, it might be a good idea to find materials that can survive all these. Plastic is a great material to use indoors, but is usually a no-no when exposed to the heat of the sun (although there are some plastics that can withstand UV rays and the sun’s heat). Wood is also not a good choice for outdoor office signs. Tarnish proof and rust proof metals, glass, and stone are ideal for such conditions and can be considered for these signs.

Also to be considered when choosing materials for your customized office signs is ADA compliance. Not all office signs need to be compliant with the rules stated in this law for signage, but a lot of them are. This is why you have to also consider what materials can fit the mandates of this law, and which ones cannot.
