Restroom Signage

When you need to have restroom signage made for your business, one of the things you need to decide on would be the kind of material to use for these signs. There are a number of material options available to you and what you choose will often depend on the kind of signs you want to have as well as your signage budget. The kinds of designs that you decide to use for your signs will also have a bearing on what materials you can use.

Some of the materials that you can use for restroom signs include the following:

-      Plastic – probably one of the most popular and most inexpensive of all signage materials, plastic can be used to create lightweight bathroom signs. These can come in a wide variety of colors and color combinations. These can also be used to create ADA compliant signs, which is something that bathroom signs should be. There are a number of different kinds of plastic that can be used for signage making.

Some of the more popular choices include polycarbonate, acrylic and PVC, to name but a few. Depending again on where you will use these signs, some of these plastic types may be ideal for what you need them for. Some of these, like PVC for example, should not be used outdoors due to its propensity to cracking and warping when heated.

 -      Metal – this is another option that you can choose when you are thinking of having custom bathroom signs crafted for your business or establishment. The metals that are usually used for this are those that are corrosion and tarnish resistant. Some of the choices you have include stainless steel, aluminum, brass and bronze. These metals should have a matte finish for these to be considered ADA compliant and a contrasting paint should color the characters on these signs to make these comply with rules regarding color contrasts.

 -      Wood – another material that can be easily marked and engraved is wood. While not that many people choose to use this material due to it being porous and prone to deterioration, some people love the rusticity of such a material and use these for their bathroom signs and other signage needs. These should be used indoors only, however with the right overlaminate or protective coating, these can last a long time outdoors as well.
