Office signs are used by many businesses to show people who are occupying particular office spaces, where specific rooms can be found, and where stairwells as well as bathrooms are located. The rules that help make your signs as legible as they can possibly be include rules that dictate what colors your letters and background should be, what fonts are to be used, what size your copy should be, and where on the sign these should be placed, among other things. Let us first tackle the color aspect of your signs. In order for these to be as easy to read from a far distance as it is from up close, the color contrast of these signs is set at 70%. This means that your characters should be either 70% lighter or darker than its background.

For rules regarding fonts, you are mandated to use sans serif fonts to make these generally easier to read. Sans serif fonts are those that do not have an extra artistic stroke, making the letters straightforward and simpler to read. Also, you should not use fancy script and italics for your letters since these will also serve to confuse readers. The size of your letters need to be just right for the size of your signs, and should not be too small to read from afar.

The reason why your signs should have highly legible copy on it is to help people easily understand what is written on it. Of course, it also helps that you are not violating any rules set by the government for signage when you also follow such guidelines for signage copy.
